Patrick received his first guitar as a gift at the age of six. His father taught him the first chords. In the following years, Patrick honed his guitar skills autodidactically.
He also gained experience in various bands with other instruments, such as electric bass and drums. He has been thoroughly exposed to a wide variety of styles, primarily through listening to music extensively and collecting records.
In 2020, Patrick began exploring bluegrass music afterwhen his younger brother and Main Grass bandmate Moritz showed him a YouTube video of Billy Strings.
Impressed by the fast guitar picking, Patrick bought his first dreadnought guitar, a Martin D-18.
Shortly afterward, he met his future Main Grass bandmates JD, George, and Ruediger.
