George received classical violin lessons from the age of five. While still pursuing his classical music education at the Franz Liszt Special High School and subsequently at the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar, he joined his first bluegrass band, Old Number Seven, at the age of 18. During this time, he also learned to play the mandolin and five-string banjo.
Afterwards, George worked as a professional musician for the Fox Tower Bluegrass Band from Jena, with whom he produced numerous recordings and completed several international tours.
In 2000, as a member of this band, he was part of the first German band to perform a showcase on the main stage of the “IBMA World of Bluegrass”.
This was followed by other band projects, such as Night Run and Grey Eagle.
In addition to Main Grass, George is a permanent member of Das Syndikat (blues, swing, boogie) and Grass Root Ties.
Furthermore, George plays and sings on a project basis, both on stage and in studio productions.
George also handles the stage technology and enriches Main Grass‘s stage show with his entertaining MC work.
